Deep Knowledge Group Pandemic Resilient City Rankings Recognized by Abu Dhabi Government

In April 2021 Deep Knowledge Group (DKG) revealed, in a study titled COVID-19 City Safety Ranking Q2/2021, that Abu Dhabi ranked as the world’s most pandemic-resilient city.

The findings were widely reported in global media and garnered attention in the publications across the Gulf region, in addition to being officially recognized by the Abu Dhabi Media Office and the Abu Dhabi Chamber.

It topped a global ranking of 50 cities for its response to the Covid-19 pandemic, with Dubai also making the top five. The capital led the way for its efforts to safeguard public health, bolster the economy from the financial fallout of the outbreak and deliver strong vaccination rates. The emirate was singled out for the efficiency of its government services and its quarantine management in the report, titled 'Ranking of the Safest Cities during the Covid-19 Pandemic for the Second Quarter of 2021'.

In 2022 Abu Dhabi ranked as world's top pandemic-resilient city again in its 2022 Pandemic-Resilient Cities Ranking, which evaluated the continued progress of key cities and presented additional policy recommendations to rectify major shortcomings. Utilising 1,300 data points in total, the study and ranking are based on an analytical framework consisting of 50 parameters, broken into five distinct categories: Economy Resilience, Government Efficiency, Healthcare Management, Quarantine Efficiency, and Vaccination Rate.

Deep Knowledge Group have also published several other reports highlighting the emirate's efforts in responding to the crisis. These reports have recognized Abu Dhabi for its effective quarantine management and efficient government services, as well as its success in delivering high vaccination rates. The reports praised Abu Dhabi for its economic stimulus package, which has helped the city weather the financial fallout from the pandemic.
