The Global Artificial Intelligence Competitiveness Index is a living index and ongoing series of reports representing one of the most comprehensive, longitudinal analyses of national AI ecosystems and their evolution from innovation to governance. Across its four volumes, the Index traces the full arc of AI maturity: Part 1 mapped the global corporate and industrial landscape; Part 2 quantified scientific research, patents, and academic output; Part 3 benchmarked human capital, education pipelines, and workforce readiness; and Part 4 examined policy, governance, and regulatory capacity—measuring how nations translate ambition into enforceable law and institutional strength, and Part 5 focuses on one of the most strategically significant frontiers of applied artificial intelligence: its integration into the global financial system. Taken together, the series establishes an integrated evidence base covering more than 50 countries and thousands of organizations, offering policymakers, investors, and researchers a unified framework to assess where global AI leadership is being built, institutionalized, and responsibly governed.
Reports
The Global AI Competitiveness Index draws upon the insights of an astute board of AI Committee Members comprising internationally distinguished experts whose excellence spans policy, law, academia, and industry. Deep Knowledge Group has been a host or co-host to all four volumes of the index, and the Financial Services Development Council (FSDC) has served as official Observer organization since Part 3 of the index.
Collectively, the consortium behind the Index was formed in 2024 to conduct objective analyses of the domain of Global AI industrialization, science, technology, finance, policy and governance. In 2026, the consortium is planning to produce an additional four reports on AI competitiveness in specific domains and industries, starting with AI in Finance, and to add several additional members to its AI Committee.
